Would you like to lead a team of Business Development Managers and orchestrate the expansion of our customer base, ensuring the attainment of objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)? Are you able to cultivate market presence through proactive prospecting, independently and through team efforts and demonstrate adept leadership, customer engagement, and strategic utilization of insights and tools to drive market share expansion? For this role, we’ll look to you to:

  • Cultivate a robust and qualified sales pipeline within assigned territories while supporting team members in their respective areas.
  • Conduct a minimum of 20 cold calls weekly to nurture prospects.
  • Manage a portfolio of 500+ prospects, ensuring comprehensive pipeline management.
  • Aim for a 30% proposal and 7% closure rate to achieve set targets.
  • Drive annual account growth objectives.
  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue potential customers using CRM and other strategic prospecting tools.
  • Guide clients through the onboarding process, fostering enduring relationships and facilitating smooth transitions.
  • Contribute to the formulation of business development strategies and sales forecasts.
  • Maintain transparent communication through verbal updates and monthly written reports, detailing pipeline progress, sales updates, and customer onboarding status.
  • Provide timely insights on competitive landscape and retail dynamics to sales management.
  • Foster strong relationships with prospects, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Act as a primary liaison during the onboarding phase, ensuring seamless integration.
  • Innovate and strategize to enhance the business development experience and promote our products and services.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with internal Sales and Marketing teams.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices through active participation in industry events and organizations, potentially at board level.
  • Serve as the go-to resource for industry-related opportunities.

The gross annual salary is $120,000 plus commission.

Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Business Development Director.
  • Extensive background (5+ years) in the Convenience, Truck & Travel, and Grocery Industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in utilizing IRI/Nielsen syndicated data to drive sales and category management.
  • Hands-on experience with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel proficiency.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong negotiation acumen, with a proven track record of contract execution and closure.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering client-centric solutions and meeting sales targets.
  • Experience in negotiating and fulfilling national customer contracts.
  • In-depth understanding of key clients and their industry positioning.
  • Analytical aptitude to interpret sales data and formulate actionable insights.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, coupled with adept relationship-building abilities.
